Why do ghosts sometimes only show up in photographs but not to the naked eye?

There are many theories on this. A popular one is that the phenomena are flickering at a high rate of speed that our eyes cant pick up on. So the phenomena is flickering extremely fast and we can't see it. But if all the elements are right perhaps when we take the picture and the shutter snaps we capture the phenomena on the flicker of visibility. That split second that the shutter snaps happens to capture the phenomena on film.

Another widely known and accepted theory is that the phenomena actually imprints its image on our film. In other words it psychically decides to let you see it by putting its image on film.

Another theory is the idea that our eyes can only see the visible spectrum. As a result, any things beyond the visible spectrum cannot be seen by the eyes, but could possibly be picked on film, which is a chemical (or electrical) process, that captures a greater spectrum.
