Q&A

How long have you been interested in the paranormal?

Ever since I was very young. I can remember walking to the town library after school and spending long hours reading about various paranormal and occult subjects. I never grew tired of it, and I still enjoy it now.

What started this interest?

I'm not sure what might have sparked my interest in this subject. As far back as I can recall, I was always drawn to fantasy, horror, and science fiction. I always enjoyed reading ghost stories, myths and legends. Eventually I was attracted to the scientific investigation of the paranormal to further my understanding through direct experience.

How did you become involved with New England Paranormal?

I was surfing the web, and found NEP's web-page. Having had some field investigation experience, I submitted an application and began corresponding with the founder, Steve Gonsalves. I attended one of Steve's classes at the Boston Adult Education Center, and thereafter began going on cases. The rest, as they say, is history! I'm glad to be involved with Steve's organization, truly a great group of professional people to work with. I'm also lucky to work with members of TAPS, another great group of professionals that NEP is affiliated with.

When you go on an investigation what do you expect? What don't you expect?

I usually try not to set my expectations very high, but occasionally my human nature takes over. First and foremost, I'm there to gather accurate, meaningful data. Of course, I'm also hoping to experience the paranormal firsthand! I usually take the attitude that if some paranormal phenomena manifests, great. If it doesn't, it's still a worthwhile experience when you're working with a good team. Things can still be learned even on a 'cold' case. As far as what I don't expect, I don't expect Brian H. of TAPS to make me a turkey sandwich when on a case! ;)

If someone wants to get involved with Paranormal Research/Investigations, what would you suggest to them?

Having an interest in the paranormal is just the beginning. Read, do research, attend one of Steve's classes. Learn everything you can about the tools and procedures involved in this sort of work. Then, go out and experience it firsthand. I guarantee that your interest in the paranormal will only increase after you actually experience paranormal phenomena that you have previously only read about, while on a case. Best of luck to you!
